Member Assistance Program
Member Assistance Program
Healthcare workers are facing more challenges than ever: short staffing, burnout, record rates of inflation, and countless other issues impacting you at home and at work.
While your employer and the Ford government fail to provide solutions, SEIU Healthcare is here to offer the support you need when you need it most.
In 2023, we created the Member Assistance Program (MAP) to support our members facing substance abuse and addiction challenges.
As part of the program, we cover the entire cost of an addiction/substance abuse program for SEIU Healthcare members who do not have an extended health benefits plan that includes coverage for addiction services through their employer. We cover the difference for those with partial coverage through extended health benefits.
In early 2024, we expanded the Member Assistance Program to include resources related to domestic violence, food and housing insecurity, and financial wellness to ensure our members get the support they need when they need it.
To access the Member Assistance Program or to learn more, call the Member Service Centre at 1-877-672-7348 or visit https://seiuhealthcare.ca/map.
“SEIU Healthcare’s Member Assistance Program (MAP) is a beacon of support during one of the most challenging times for healthcare workers. Amidst the chaos of the pandemic, staffing shortages, and burnout, MAP is a lifeline.”
SEIU Healthcare Training Centre
SEIU Healthcare Training Centre
The SEIU Training Centre was established as a solution to address the emergent healthcare workforce crises in Canada. Innovation is needed to solve the ongoing recruitment, development, and deployment needs in the industry.
As a provider of best-in-class healthcare training options, we will offer comprehensive support while creating a holistic integrated ecosystem where healthcare professionals can access quality training, work opportunities and social support. We strive to foster a sense of belonging, trust and community while promoting cultural sensitivity so career advancement is both accessible and affordable.
This year, through the SEIU Healthcare Training Centre, we established a new digital hiring hall, which allows you to put more money in your pockets by picking up shifts that fit your schedule at SEIU-represented workplaces.
Shifts are posted online at participating workplaces on our new platform, WorkersFirst Healthcare, after the internal overtime callout is exhausted.
Shifts come with added benefits, including a healthcare spending account and retirement savings.
SEIU Healthcare Mobile App
Our SEIU Healthcare mobile app gives important union information at your fingertips and allows you to connect more to your union than ever before. It provides important information and resources, including your Collective Agreement, Live Chat with the Member Service Centre, and information on upcoming meetings and news based on classification, workplace, region and city.
Coming in 2024: Great new functions will improve your member experience, including the ability to earn and redeem points directly in the app for contests, prizes and experiences, a new way to contact your stewards and in-app e-learning modules!
“Everything I need to know from my union is all in one place – I’m so excited to see our app’s new features!”
SEIU Savings
SEIU Savings
Thousands of SEIU Healthcare members saved money by taking advantage of our SEIU Savings program.
SEIU Savings gives members exclusive access to deals, including discounted cell phone plans from Bell, Rogers, and Telus, home and auto insurance, sports games, and retail like jewelry, electronics and clothing.
We have also partnered with one of Canada’s largest pharmacies, Rexall, to give our members an exclusive 20% discount on Rexall-branded products, including medications, snacks and gifts.
“Inflation is getting out of control, and saving money on essentials has been so helpful. Without SEIU Savings, my cell phone bill would be way too high.”
